Infamous gangster Reggie Kray's collection of prison letters will be put up for auction in Tetbury. Kray wrote these letters while serving a life sentence for the murder of Jack McVitie in 1967, during his time at HMP Maidstone and HMP Blundeston. Alongside his twin brother Ronnie, Kray established a criminal empire in London's East End during the 1950s and 1960s. The auction will take place over three days starting from 10 February. The Krays' gang was involved in a range of illegal activities, including extortion, robbery, and murder. Reggie was convicted of murder in 1969 and spent the majority of his life behind bars until being released on compassionate grounds in 2000. He passed away at the age of 66 from bladder cancer. The auction will feature letters written by Kray to an individual named Peter Gerard during his time at HMP Maidstone, as well as a letter from HMP Blundeston and a signed photo of Reggie lifting weights. Additionally, the collection includes a business card belonging to Reggie's father, Charles, who worked as a wardrobe and jewellery dealer.
