The popular legal drama Suits, which features the future Duchess of Sussex, has set a new record for streaming in the United States. According to media analysts Nielsen, the show was watched for a total of 57.7 billion minutes on Netflix last year, surpassing the previous record set by The Office in 2020. Children's show Bluey came in second place with 43.9 billion minutes on Disney+. Other shows that made the top list include NCIS, Grey's Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, Gilmore Girls, and Friends, indicating a desire for nostalgic content. Suits originally aired on the USA Network but gained a significant increase in viewership after being added to Netflix. Time magazine described it as the "perfect binge show," with clever and entertaining plots that allow viewers to easily follow along. Kelly Lawler of USA Today also praised the show for its mix of comedy, drama, mystery, heartbreak, and joy. The presence of royalty in the cast, including the future duchess, may have also contributed to its popularity. Suits had more content and viewing hours than The Office, giving it an advantage in terms of total viewing time. Interestingly, none of the top 10 shows in the end-of-year list were original productions from streaming platforms, indicating a reliance on acquired content. The top original show was Ted Lasso on Apple TV+, followed by The Night Agent on Netflix. The most-streamed film was Moana on Disney+, with children's films dominating the chart.
