The Metropolitan Police has announced that it will be investigating allegations of historical sexual offenses made against comedian Russell Brand. The police have received multiple reports of sexual offenses in London as well as other parts of the country, but no arrests have been made so far. These allegations came to light as a result of a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4's Dispatches, in which four women accused Brand of rape and sexual assault. Brand has denied these claims. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy of the Met's Central Specialist Crime Command urged anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a sexual offense, regardless of how long ago it occurred, to come forward and contact the police. The police force also assured that they have a team of specialized officers available to offer support and guidance to victims. This is an ongoing story, and more details will be shared soon.
