Police officers have been found to have made "sickening" comments about an assault victim while watching body-worn video footage of her suffering from a seizure. The incident occurred in Newbury, Berkshire, when a woman was filmed during a seizure with her body exposed. Three police constables from Thames Valley Police later watched the footage without a valid reason. Although none of the officers faced a misconduct hearing, a student officer who reported the incident was dismissed. The force has since admitted that the officers' remarks were unacceptable. The case has prompted calls for mandatory rules on camera use by police officers. This incident follows previous findings by the BBC that police forces have misused body-worn video technology, including switching off cameras, deleting footage, and sharing videos on WhatsApp. A chairperson from the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners has expressed shock at the previous findings and has called for tighter systems to prevent footage deletion.
