A small plane crashed into a trailer park in Clearwater, Florida, causing a fire that spread to mobile homes, according to fire officials. The incident took place on Thursday evening when firefighters received a call about a plane crash at 19:08 local time. Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Ehlers stated that they received the call around the same time as the airport reported a distressed plane. The pilot had declared a mayday before the aircraft disappeared, as heard by air traffic control. The crash site video showed wreckage scattered on the street inside the Bayside Waters mobile home park. Chief Ehlers mentioned that four trailers were severely impacted, with one being directly hit by the plane. However, the fires were swiftly extinguished. Thankfully, no victims were found in the three homes that were searched. Although residents were in their homes when the plane crashed, they managed to escape to safety. Investigators are still trying to access the trailer that was directly struck by the plane. Unfortunately, it is believed that the pilot died in the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) revealed that the plane involved was a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35, which had reported an engine failure shortly before the accident. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct an investigation into the crash.
