During a phone call between the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Iran, Pakistan expressed its willingness to collaborate with Iran on all issues. This comes after the two countries engaged in a series of drone and missile strikes on militant bases within each other's territories. Iran reported that the strikes on Thursday resulted in the deaths of nine individuals, including four children in a border village on their side, while Pakistan claimed that Iran's attack on Tuesday killed two children. As of now, Iran has not commented on the talks. The two foreign ministers discussed de-escalating the situation and the return of ambassadors to their respective capitals. These reciprocal attacks occurred amidst heightened tensions in the Middle East, characterized by various ongoing crises. For instance, Israel is currently engaged in conflict with the Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza, as well as engaging in exchanges of fire with Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon. Additionally, Iran-backed groups in Iraq and Syria are targeting US forces, while the US and UK have been striking the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, who have been attacking shipping. As for the strikes conducted by Pakistan, the country's foreign ministry stated that they were carried out due to credible intelligence regarding potential large-scale terrorist activities. Pakistan emphasized its full respect for Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Pakistan army conducted precise strikes using drones, rockets, and long-range missiles, specifically targeting the Balochistan Liberation Army and the Balochistan Liberation Front. Both of these groups have long been involved in the struggle for greater autonomy in Balochistan, a remote region in south-western Pakistan.
