A senior staff member at Nvidia is facing a lawsuit from car technology firm Valeo for allegedly stealing its tech secrets during a video presentation. Mohammad Moniruzzaman, who was giving an online presentation to a team from Valeo, accidentally displayed a file that proved he had stolen Valeo's source code for parking and driving assistance software. According to Valeo, Moniruzzaman had taken gigabytes of data in 2021 while working for the German arm of the company before leaving to join Nvidia. Moniruzzaman was convicted by German authorities in 2023 for unlawfully holding the stolen data. Valeo claims that Nvidia benefitted financially from the stolen trade secrets and has diminished the value of its proprietary software. As a result, Valeo has launched a lawsuit seeking significant damages and an injunction to prohibit Nvidia from using its code.
