Nine individuals injured following the throwing of a 'corrosive substance'

According to the police, nine people, including children and police officers, have been hospitalized in south London after a corrosive substance was thrown. The incident took place on Lessar Avenue, Lambeth, where a man was witnessed fleeing the scene. A woman and her two young children were among the victims who required medical treatment. Three others, who had come to their aid, also suffered injuries. The responding police officers sustained minor injuries. The Metropolitan Police are currently searching for the assailant, utilizing all available resources, including police helicopters. Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle stated that while tests are ongoing to identify the substance, they suspect it to be corrosive. London Assembly Member Marina Ahmad reported on social media that the incident was linked to a traffic collision, where a man assaulted the car occupants. Emergency services, including fire engines and ambulances, are currently at the scene. The police have assured the public that they will provide updates on the condition of the injured individuals as soon as possible.
