The Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed the opposition's attempts to overturn President Bola Tinubu's victory in the presidential election held in February. The main opposition candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, claimed that the election was marred by irregularities and requested the highest court to void the previous judgement. However, the Supreme Court judges rejected both challenges, stating that a presidential election result has never been overturned in Nigeria. This election was particularly intense, with three strong contenders for the first time since the end of military rule in 1999. President Tinubu secured 37% of the votes, while Mr. Abubakar received 29% and Mr. Obi secured 25%.
