Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley has taken a more aggressive stance against Donald Trump just days before the Republican New Hampshire primary. Despite avoiding criticizing the former president in the past, Trump's personal attacks have intensified as he maintains a substantial lead in the polls. Trump currently has 50% of likely Republican voters in the state, while Haley trails far behind. In the recent Iowa caucus, Trump outperformed Haley and Ron DeSantis. Despite his dominant position, Trump has increasingly targeted his opponents, particularly Haley. He mistakenly referred to Haley as Nancy Pelosi during a campaign rally while discussing the Capitol riot. Haley seized on this slip-up during an interview, stating that Trump's mental stability is likely declining and pointing out the chaos that follows him. This marks a new strategy by Haley to portray Trump as a candidate fueled by chaos and temper. Trump has resorted to personal insults against Haley, including misspelling her name on social media and questioning her eligibility to serve as president or vice president. In response, Haley called Trump insecure and prone to temper tantrums. However, Haley's decision to confront Trump may have come too late in the primary race. Recent polls continue to show Trump's dominance over Haley and DeSantis in New Hampshire. Trump leads with 55% support, followed by Haley with 36%, and DeSantis with 6%. Despite the uphill battle, Haley's campaign remains hopeful, viewing each race as an opportunity for incremental progress. On the other hand, Trump's campaign has received endorsements from former opponents Governor Doug Burgum and Senator Tim Scott, further solidifying his position.
