Hundreds of fans of popular Afrobeats star MohBad have taken to the streets in Ibadan and Asaba, Nigeria, to demand justice following his untimely death last week. Similar protests and expressions of grief have also been witnessed in other southern Nigerian cities. MohBad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away at a hospital in Lagos, although the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain undisclosed. In response to the outcry, the governor of Lagos state has promised a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu tweeted that he has enlisted the country's secret police to aid in the inquiry and requested anyone with relevant information to step forward. He also urged the singer's fans to refrain from making inflammatory remarks. Furthermore, a special investigative team has been assembled, and MohBad's body is slated to be exhumed for an autopsy. The hashtag #justiceformohbad has trended on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) since his demise. Amidst heightened emotions, some tributes have insinuated that the artist faced bullying within the music industry. Many people have expressed their outrage towards his former boss, Naira Marley, with whom MohBad had a public fallout when he left Marlian Records, the Nigerian musician's label, last year. Marley himself has joined the call for a thorough investigation into MohBad's passing and has pledged to assist in uncovering any potential foul play or injustice.
