Maryanne Trump Barry, the older sister of former President Donald Trump, has died at the age of 86 in her New York City apartment. The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed. Barry served as a federal judge in New Jersey for several years until her retirement in 2019. She is the third sibling of Trump to pass away. No immediate response was received from the former president's spokesperson regarding her death. Emergency crews responded to a call of cardiac arrest, but there were no signs of foul play or trauma. A medical examiner will determine the cause of her death. Barry, who chose not to be involved in the Trump family's real estate business, worked as a prosecutor before being nominated by President Ronald Reagan as a federal district judge in 1983. In a memoir written by her niece, Mary, Barry mentioned that becoming a judge was the only favor she ever asked of her brother, but he constantly reminded her of it. She was later appointed to the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit by President Bill Clinton in 1999. In 2019, an inquiry into Barry's judicial misconduct was initiated after a New York Times investigation into the Trump family's tax affairs. However, the inquiry was closed without a conclusion when she retired that same year. Barry was married twice and had one son from her first marriage. Although Barry had a close relationship with her younger brother in the past, it is believed to have strained after the release of her niece's book, which contained recordings of conversations between Barry and Mary Trump. These recordings showcased Barry's criticism of Trump, describing him as lacking principles and only appealing to his base. However, the siblings were recently seen together at Trump's club in Bedminster, New Jersey, indicating a potential reconciliation. Donald Trump has lost two brothers and his first wife, with his only surviving sibling being his sister, Elizabeth Trump Grau.
