Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, has been sentenced by a judge in New Hampshire for an incident in 2019 where he blew his nose on a photographer during one of his concerts. The judge described the incident as "egregious". As part of his punishment, Manson will have to serve 20 hours of community service and pay fines of around $1,400 (£1,100). Initially, Manson pleaded not guilty to the assault charges, but later changed his plea to no contest, meaning he did not contest the charge but did not admit guilt either. The incident occurred on 19 August 2019 when Manson spat on the woman, Susan Fountain, who was filming his performance at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford. The police report stated that Manson put his face close to the camera and spitted on Fountain, followed by blowing a significant amount of mucus on her. He then laughed and pointed at her as she walked away. During the court proceedings, Fountain expressed her humiliation and stated that she had never been treated so disgustingly. Manson will also be required to notify the police of any concerts he plans to hold in New Hampshire for the next two years and provide evidence of completing his community service by 4 February 2024. In court, Manson confirmed his understanding of the sentence and outside the court, he mentioned that he plans to perform his community service with people in recovery. Manson has had a successful music career, releasing 11 studio albums since 1994, with three of them reaching the UK top 10. His cover of "Tainted Love" in 2001 was his biggest hit, reaching number five. In recent years, he has faced multiple accusations of sexual assault and has even attempted to sue one of his alleged victims, claiming that she has damaged his career.
