According to the Metropolitan Police, a man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage after removing a street sign featuring artwork by Banksy. The artwork, which depicted three military drones on a red stop sign, was unveiled in Peckham on Friday. Witnesses took photos as the man used bolt cutters to take the artwork within an hour of its installation. The arrested man is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing. The Met was alerted by Southwark Council, and a new traffic sign has since been put up to ensure the safety of road users. The police have urged anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the sign to come forward. A video circulating on social media shows one man holding a Lime hire bike while another uses bolt cutters to remove the artwork from the post. After removing the sign, the man ran away with it. Southwark Council's deputy leader, Jasmine Ali, expressed confidence in recovering the artwork, emphasizing its significance as a community piece.
