After finishing second to last in Eurovision, Mae Muller decided to take a lighthearted approach to the loss. She recorded a TikTok video captioned "when someone asks me how well I did at Eurovision," where she mimed "ask me another question" at the end. However, behind the scenes, Mae was still dealing with the disappointment and feeling upset. She initially thought her life was over but knew she had to address it in her own way. Her TikTok video became part of her coping mechanism, allowing her to own the narrative and prevent others from pitying her. Reflecting on the contest, she chooses to focus on the support she received and the fun she had with fans. Mae is proud of how her entry, "I Wrote a Song," performed outside of Eurovision, gaining airplay, millions of streams, and reaching the UK top 10. Although songwriting is her passion, the demands of Eurovision put it on hold for six months. Fortunately, her album titled "Sorry I'm Late" was already completed and the Eurovision experience helped keep her busy. Mae's influences include Lily Allen, and like Allen, she wants her songs to feature candid and comedic lyrics that feel like conversational moments among friends. With the release of her album, she is excited and proud to know that people will be listening. Now, Mae is eager to get back into the studio and continue with her creative vibe.
