London's six Overground lines will soon be given new names and colors, as announced by Transport for London (TfL). These changes aim to make it easier for passengers to navigate the network by giving each route its own distinct identity. The new names will be the Lioness line, the Mildmay line, the Windrush line, the Weaver line, the Suffragette line, and the Liberty line. TfL worked with various stakeholders and communities to choose names that represent the areas the lines pass through and celebrate London's history and cultural diversity. The iconic Tube map, first created in 1933, has been criticized for its increasing complexity with the addition of new routes. TfL hopes that the new design will enhance the travel experience for commuters. The cost of the rebranding is expected to be around £6.3 million, with completion planned by the end of the year. Critics, such as Conservative mayoral candidate Susan Hall, have called the rebranding unnecessary and a waste of resources.
