Israel has retaliated by shelling militant targets in Lebanon after two missiles were fired at an Israeli military post near the unofficial border. Lebanese state media reported that three people were injured in the shelling, which hit several towns and villages. The Hezbollah movement claimed responsibility for the missile attack, stating that it was in response to the killing of three of its fighters on Monday. This exchange of fire occurred as Israel bombed Gaza in retaliation for an attack by Palestinian militant group Hamas. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that an anti-tank missile was fired from Lebanon towards an Israeli military post near the village of Arab al-Aramshe. Hezbollah claimed that the missile caused Israeli casualties. In response, the IDF launched airstrikes on a Hezbollah observation post inside Lebanon and shelled the missile launch site. No casualties were reported among Israeli troops. Lebanon's National News Agency reported that three civilians were wounded and several houses were damaged due to Israeli fire in Marwahin, Yarin, and Dharya. Israel and the US have warned Hezbollah against escalating tensions further following Hamas' recent attack on southern Israel. US President Joe Biden reinforced this warning, urging any country or organization not to take advantage of the situation. Tensions have been high on Israel's northern frontier since the Hamas attack. On Monday, three Israeli soldiers were killed in a confrontation with gunmen from Palestinian Islamic Jihad who infiltrated Israeli territory from Lebanon. Two Palestinian militants were also killed in the incident. Later, Israeli forces attacked Hezbollah positions in Lebanon in response to mortar fire, resulting in the killing of three Hezbollah militants. Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for firing an anti-tank guided missile at an Israeli military vehicle in the Avivim area on Tuesday. No casualties were reported, and the IDF responded by attacking one of Hezbollah's observation posts. Additionally, Hamas fighters in Lebanon allegedly fired rockets towards Israel's western Galilee region, which were intercepted or fell in open areas. Israel retaliated by shelling two more Hezbollah observation posts.
