Democratic Representative Cori Bush is under investigation by the Department of Justice for allegedly using campaign funds to pay for security services, according to her office. The House Sergeant at Arms has been subpoenaed for documents related to her campaign's spending, as reported by US media outlet Punchbowl. Ms. Bush has stated that she is fully cooperating with the investigation. She has been serving as a member of the US House of Representatives since 2021. In response to the allegations, Ms. Bush clarified that as a rank-and-file member of Congress, she is not entitled to personal protection provided by the House. Therefore, she explained that she has used campaign funds in a permissible manner to cover the costs of security services. Ms. Bush emphasized that she has not used any federal tax dollars for personal security and dismissed any reports suggesting otherwise as false. She further claimed that right-wing organizations have targeted her, leading to baseless complaints and multiple ongoing investigations against her.
