Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond have wrapped up filming their final episode of the popular motoring show The Grand Tour after being on Amazon Prime for seven years. The trio recently returned from filming in Zimbabwe, and the special episode is scheduled to be aired next year. According to the BBC, options are being explored for a new version of the show. Amazon Prime and the presenters have been approached for comments regarding this development. The Grand Tour has enjoyed a successful five-series run with Clarkson, May, and Hammond as its hosts since they left the BBC's Top Gear in 2015. This news follows the recent announcement that Top Gear will be put on hold indefinitely after presenter Freddie Flintoff was injured in a crash during filming last year. The BBC stated that it has decided to "rest the UK show." In a recent podcast interview, May expressed his belief that the show needs a fresh perspective and approach due to the continuously evolving subject matter of cars. The trio initially started presenting Top Gear back in 2003, and the show became a massive hit for the BBC. However, they faced several controversies before Clarkson's departure from the show and the BBC in 2015 after a physical altercation with a producer. Hammond and May followed him, and Amazon Prime quickly signed them for their streaming service. The first season of The Grand Tour performed exceptionally well, as reported by Reuters in 2018. Additionally, Clarkson and May have other shows on Amazon, including Clarkson's Farm, which is set to return for a third season, and May's Our Man In... series.
