Adva Ada's 85-year-old grandmother was kidnapped by Hamas and taken to Gaza over a month ago. Along with over 200 others, she was abducted during a Hamas attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip. Despite ongoing air strikes by the Israeli military and the encirclement of Gaza City, Adva remains hopeful that the military's actions could lead to the rescue of the hostages. She believes that a ground invasion in Gaza may help in bringing them back safely. Adva had planned to visit her grandmother at Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7th, but her grandmother informed the family that she was hiding in a shelter due to rocket fire that morning. She lost contact with her grandmother, only to later see a video online of her being transported on a golf cart by Hamas militants. Adva expresses concern for her grandmother's health, as she has various medical conditions and requires regular medication. The family anxiously waits for news about her wellbeing. Yafa Adva, a founding member of Kibbutz Nir Oz and a beloved figure in the community, is not the only member of the Adar family affected by the attacks. Tamir, Adva's cousin and Yafa's grandson, is also missing after leaving his wife and children to protect their community. Adva's grandfather, aunt, and another cousin survived the attacks but have experienced deep trauma. The family now faces the challenge of rebuilding their lives, as their homes and belongings were destroyed or stolen. The once peaceful and idyllic kibbutz has been transformed into a scene of devastation.
