Israel has confirmed that the body of a second woman, 19-year-old Cpl Noa Marciano, has been found in Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) discovered her body in a building near the Al-Shifa Hospital. This comes after the IDF announced on Thursday that they found the body of a 65-year-old hostage near the same hospital. The search for more hostages is ongoing in and around Gaza's largest hospital. Israeli intelligence led soldiers to Cpl Marciano's body, but further details on her cause of death were not provided. Hamas's military wing claimed she was killed in an Israeli airstrike on November 9, but this cannot be independently verified. Cpl Marciano was serving as a lookout at the Nahal Oz kibbutz when it was attacked by gunmen who breached the Israel-Gaza border and targeted various Israeli communities and military bases. Cpl Marciano's mother reported that her daughter had informed her about an infiltration before their call was abruptly ended. Only four of the 240 hostages abducted by Hamas have been freed so far. Israeli officials estimate that at least 1,200 people were killed in the cross-border attack by Hamas. Meanwhile, Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry reported 11,400 deaths in the territory since Israel's counter-attack began. The Al-Shifa Hospital has been at the center of the conflict and was raided by the Israeli military on Wednesday, as the IDF claims that Hamas has been using it as a command center. However, Hamas denies these allegations, and claims made by either side cannot be independently confirmed.
