An Irish chef, Alan Fisher, has set a new world record for cooking non-stop, surpassing the previous record by more than 24 hours. Fisher, who is based in Japan, cooked for an astonishing 119 hours and 57 minutes at his Irish-themed restaurant in Matsue, according to Guinness World Records (GWR). This achievement means that Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, the previous record holder, has been dethroned. Earlier this year, Baci's record drew attention and caused a frenzy in Nigeria, inspiring others to attempt unusual feats to secure their own place in the record books. Baci's record stood at 93 hours and 11 minutes. Fisher stated that he felt inspired by the achievements of previous record holders, such as Lata and Hilda, and aimed to make his mark. During the cooking marathon, Fisher peeled a staggering 300kg of potatoes, which was a challenging task as fatigue set in and he started experiencing hallucinations. Remarkably, Fisher went on to break another record for non-stop baking, clocking in at 47 hours and 21 minutes. In total, he made 357kg of soda bread and 3,360 portions of food. Baci has displayed graciousness in surrendering her crown and congratulated Fisher for his incredible accomplishment. She expressed gratitude for the love and support she received during her time as the record holder.
