In a recent announcement, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has suggested that the government of India may be responsible for the fatal shooting of Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was tragically killed outside a Sikh temple in British Columbia on June 18th. According to Trudeau, Canadian intelligence has uncovered a credible connection between Nijjar's death and the Indian state. The prime minister reportedly discussed this matter with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 summit. Trudeau strongly condemned any involvement of a foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil, emphasizing that it would be a violation of their country's sovereignty. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was well-known in the province of British Columbia for his leadership within the Sikh community and his vocal support for a separate Khalistani state. His supporters have claimed that he had been targeted with threats in the past due to his activism. On the other hand, India has previously labeled Nijjar as a terrorist and accused him of leading a militant separatist group, allegations that his supporters vehemently deny.
