A baby at the center of a legal battle has passed away after her life support was turned off. The eight-month-old girl, Indi Gregory, had mitochondrial disease and had been receiving treatment at the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham. However, the staff at the hospital stated that they could do nothing more for her. Indi's father, Dean Gregory, revealed that she passed away at a hospice after being taken there. Her mother, Claire Staniforth, was with her until the end. Indi had been transferred to the hospice following a ruling by the Court of Appeal that her life support could not be removed at home. The Christian Concern organization, which supported the family, stated that Indi was transferred to the hospice by ambulance with a security escort. Her life support was then removed and she received invasive ventilation. Indi's parents had been involved in several legal challenges to prolong their daughter's life, but specialists had deemed her treatment as futile and causing pain. The couple also attempted to transfer Indi to a hospital in Rome but were unsuccessful.
