A jacket famously worn by Michael Jackson is set to be auctioned off in London in November. The jacket gained recognition when it appeared in a Pepsi commercial back in 1984. This item, along with over 200 other music memorabilia, will be up for sale. The black and white custom-made leather jacket is estimated to sell for a price between £200,000 ($245,000) and £400,000. In the commercials, Jackson wore a different jacket, but this particular one was made specifically for him. The auction will be hosted by costume and prop vendor Propstore, who will also be selling George Michael's La Rocka Jacket, worn during a duet with Aretha Franklin in 1987. Other items include a beehive hairpiece used by Amy Winehouse in her music video for "You Know I'm No Good" in 2007, and memorabilia connected to David Bowie, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles. In addition, a Gibson guitar owned by AC/DC's Angus Young and a belt buckle belonging to John Lennon are expected to fetch high prices. Mark Hochman, director of music and posters at Propstore, anticipates strong competition for the bids, as many of these items have never before been offered for sale to the public. Previous Michael Jackson memorabilia has sold for thousands, such as the black fedora hat worn by the pop star just before his famous moonwalk dance in 1983, which sold for €77,640 at an auction in Paris last month.
