Tragic Fire at Hamburg Hospital Claims Lives of Four Patients

A fire broke out at the Helios Clinic in Uelzen, near Hamburg, resulting in the death of four people. The fire started on the third floor of the hospital at around 22:45 local time. Around 20 individuals were injured, and there is a possibility that the number of casualties may increase due to the severity of some injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Approximately 140 firefighters and rescue workers, including those from neighboring districts, worked together to contain the fire. Numerous people were rescued from the building using ladders. Authorities received distress calls from inside the hospital. Uelzen, located about 70 km southeast of Hamburg, witnessed the tragic incident. The victims who lost their lives were all patients. However, the police suspect that the death toll may rise as there are others who are critically injured. The fire is estimated to have caused damages worth €1 million. The Helios Clinic serves as the teaching hospital for the Hannover Medical School and treats approximately 42,000 patients each year with a staff of around 750 employees.
