A dog named Bobi, hailed as the oldest dog in history by Guinness World Records (GWR), has had his title suspended after veterinarians raised doubts about his age. Bobi, a Portuguese Rafeiro do Alentejo, passed away in October at the age of 31 years and 165 days. The GWR had previously validated his age through the Portuguese government's pet database. However, an investigation by Wired magazine discovered inconsistencies, with no concrete evidence to support Bobi's claimed birth year of 1992. Additionally, experts, including veterinary surgeon Danny Chambers, expressed skepticism about his age. GWR has launched an official inquiry and temporarily suspended the record titles for the world's oldest living and oldest-ever dog. Bobi's owner, Leonel Costa, believes the controversy stems from the fact that Bobi's longevity was attributed to a diet resembling that of humans, rather than traditional pet food, contradicting popular veterinary recommendations. Before Bobi, Australia's Bluey held the record for the oldest dog ever at 29 years.
