Climate activist Greta Thunberg was given a warning by the police before being arrested for a public order offence, according to a court hearing. Thunberg, along with two Fossil Free London protesters and two Greenpeace activists, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court after being accused of breaching the Public Order Act. The charges stem from a demonstration outside the InterContinental Hotel in Mayfair where oil executives were attending the Energy Intelligence Forum. The court heard that despite repeated requests, the protesters refused to move and blocked the entrance to the hotel. Eventually, the police had to impose a section 14 condition, allowing the protest to continue on the pavement south of the hotel. Thunberg was warned that her failure to comply would lead to her arrest, and when she refused to move, she was taken into custody. During the court proceedings, Thunberg was seen diligently taking notes in a small notebook. Upon her arrival at court, she walked past environmental protesters who were demonstrating in support of the defendants, holding up signs proclaiming that climate protest is not a crime.
