French rapper MHD, whose real name is Mohamed Sylla, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in the murder of a young man in Paris in 2018. The court found the 29-year-old guilty of participating in the gang-related killing of Loic K, who was hit by MHD's Mercedes and then brutally beaten and stabbed by a group of approximately 12 people. Despite his plea of not guilty, MHD maintained his innocence throughout the trial, claiming that the case against him was based on rumors. However, evidence, such as a video filmed by a local resident and witness testimonies, identified MHD as being present at the scene of the crime. Five of MHD's co-defendants received prison sentences ranging from 10 to 18 years, while three others were acquitted. It is uncertain whether the individuals sentenced to jail will appeal the verdict. Prior to his music career, MHD worked as a pizza delivery boy in Paris and rose to fame for his unique blend of trap and West African music known as "Afro trap".
