The Danish authorities have successfully thwarted a significant planned terrorist attack, according to recent reports. In a series of dawn raids on Thursday, three individuals were arrested in Denmark, with another arrest made in the Netherlands. During a press conference, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stressed that the threat was extremely grave. Details of the planned attack have not yet been revealed, as the investigation is ongoing. However, Chief Inspector Flemming Drejer informed reporters that the three people detained in Denmark will face charges related to acts of terrorism. The investigation has disclosed the existence of an international network of individuals preparing for a terrorist attack, with connections to criminal organizations. The security surrounding Jewish sites will be heightened, and police patrols in Copenhagen will be increased as well. Former Copenhagen Police Deputy Inspector Jens Moller stated that the timing of the morning raids needed to be precisely coordinated, with each operation occurring within seconds of each other. Danish intelligence chief Anja Dalgaard-Nielsen linked the terror threat to the Israel-Gaza conflict and recent Quran burnings in Denmark and Sweden. Remember, in 2015, Copenhagen experienced a tragic attack that resulted in the deaths of two individuals at a cultural center and synagogue. Earlier this month, EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson warned of a significant risk of terrorist attacks during the Christmas period. Currently, the terror threat level in Denmark is at level four out of five, which is the second-highest level.
