The FAA has ordered the temporary grounding of certain Boeing 737 Max 9 planes following an incident where a section of one of the aircrafts fell off during an Alaska Airlines flight. This decision will affect a total of 171 planes. The emergency landing in Oregon was successful and all passengers and crew members were safe. The FAA declared that it would temporarily ground specific Boeing 737 Max 9 planes operated by US airlines or within US territory. The inspections required for each aircraft will take approximately four to eight hours. The Alaska Airlines flight experienced a loud bang and a sudden drop in altitude, prompting the deployment of air masks. Reports and images showed a section of the fuselage missing and debris scattered. None of the passengers were harmed, although there were accounts of a child's shirt being pulled off by the decompression. Alaska Airlines CEO, Ben Minicucci, stated that all the planes will undergo thorough maintenance and safety inspections before returning to service. Some of the grounded planes have already been inspected and cleared for service. This is a developing story and more updates will be available.
