The former husband of a woman who is facing extradition to the United States for allegedly murdering their two children has expressed his devastation upon learning about their deaths. Kevin Wentz, in a statement, revealed that he and Kimberlee Singler had been going through a contentious divorce. The bodies of their nine-year-old daughter Elianna and seven-year-old son Aden were discovered at a residence in Colorado. Singler, 35, was apprehended in London and is now facing charges including murder. Alongside two counts of first-degree murder, she is accused of attempted murder, child abuse, and assault. Singler was arrested without incident in Kensington and has appeared before Westminster Magistrates' Court for an extradition hearing. She remains in custody until her next court appearance scheduled for January 29. Singler's eldest daughter was also found injured on December 19, and US authorities issued a warrant for Singler's arrest a week later. The Colorado Springs Police Department initially believed there had been a burglary but later deemed it to be unfounded. The force confirmed Singler's arrest in the UK and promised to provide more information in a future news conference. Wentz, through his lawyer's statement, declared his full cooperation with the police investigation and conveyed his family's immense grief and shock. A private funeral for Aden and Elianna has been arranged for the following week. The statement further revealed that the couple had been entangled in a divorce and custody dispute since 2018.
