Eurostar has advised its customers to avoid traveling on Thursday due to strike action that has forced the cancellation of trains on the cross-Channel route. The disruption occurred when a "last-minute strike" took place at Getlink, the Channel Tunnel operator. This comes at a time when many people are beginning to travel for the Christmas holidays. Eurotunnel has also temporarily suspended its LeShuttle services, which carry cars through the tunnel on trains. Both Eurostar and Eurotunnel have apologized for the inconvenience caused and promised to provide further updates. The French company, Getlink, stated that the strike had resulted in a complete interruption of service and the closure of their terminals in France and the UK. Passengers like Chris Tirifahy-McCabe are now stuck, desperately trying to make alternative travel arrangements. Transport networks are anticipating a busy travel period, but disruptions have already been seen in some parts of the UK due to stormy weather. TransPennine Express has issued a "do not travel" warning for its services to and from Edinburgh, and British Airways has adjusted its flight schedule due to air traffic control restrictions related to the storm.
