Eurostar has announced that it will resume all services to London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam on Sunday, following a day of major disruption. The cancellation of all Eurostar services between London and Paris on Saturday due to flooding in a tunnel under the River Thames left thousands of New Year plans in ruins. Anxious passengers spent the day scrambling to find alternative travel routes. Eurostar has warned that Sunday may still see delays and crowded stations. Passengers are facing expensive hotel bills, difficulties reaching their destination, and costly airfares. Eurostar website provides information on compensation. Passengers on both sides of the channel have shared their stories of difficult situations caused by the disruptions. Eurostar staff at Gare du Nord station in Paris were overwhelmed, leaving affected passengers to find their own ways back to the UK. London's St Pancras station was crowded with emotional travelers desperately seeking alternative routes. Thames Water initially suggested that a "fire control system" was likely the cause of the flooding, however, HS1 stated that investigations are ongoing and there is currently no evidence linking the flooding to the fire control system. This is the second major disruption to Eurostar services in 10 days, with a recent strike halting trains prior to Christmas. Southeastern and Thameslink services have also been affected. The Met Office has warned of potential disruptions to domestic journeys due to wind and rain.
