The UK is currently experiencing strong winds from Storm Isha, with almost the whole country under weather warnings. The Met Office has issued amber warnings for all areas except London and parts of the South East, indicating gusts of up to 80mph and a risk to life. It is rare for the entire UK to be under such an alert. In parts of northern Scotland, a red warning has been issued for gusts of up to 100mph. Network Rail has imposed speed restrictions on most routes and disruptions are expected to continue into Monday. Scotland's railway operator has cancelled all rush-hour trains and Southeastern has cancelled early morning trains into and out of London. Flights have been affected, with some diversions and cancellations. Tens of thousands of people are without power, including 45,000 in Northern Ireland, 8,000 in north-west England, and 3,000 in Wales. The storm has also prompted flood warnings and alerts, as heavy rain could lead to flooding. This comes after days of freezing temperatures and snow in some parts of the UK. Storm Isha follows Storm Henk, which caused flooding and disruption earlier this month. The Met Office names storms to facilitate tracking and communication.
