Canadian actress Emily Hampshire has issued an apology for her Halloween costume that depicted Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Hampshire, known for her role in "Schitt's Creek," took to Instagram to express her remorse, stating that she was "sorry and ashamed." In the now-deleted post, Hampshire appeared dressed as Depp, complete with facial hair and tattoos, while her friend imitated Heard's distressed expression. Both Depp and Heard have accused each other of domestic abuse. Hampshire admitted that her costume was "thoughtless, insensitive, and ignorant," describing it as one of the worst things she had ever done and emphasizing that domestic abuse should never be taken lightly. Last year, Depp sued Heard for defamation in a US court after she penned an article for the Washington Post, in which she claimed to have suffered both professional and personal consequences for speaking out about the abuse she allegedly endured. Depp won the case, while a UK court ruled against him two years prior in a similar lawsuit against The Sun newspaper, determining that the label "wife-beater" was substantially accurate.
