Allegations of voter fraud were sparked by local voting problems on election day, giving a glimpse into what could become a major theme in the 2024 presidential election. Donald Trump supporters have consistently made false claims of widespread voter fraud causing him to lose the 2020 election. Incidents occurred across the country on Tuesday, including two polling locations in Louisville, Kentucky being ordered to stay open longer due to a gas leak and a police chase. While some online backers of Trump spread the fraud allegations, a spokesperson for the Jefferson County Clerk stated that only one person voted during the extended opening period. In Pennsylvania, a voting machine glitch flipped votes in a county, leading Maga activists to claim it as evidence of a larger voter fraud conspiracy. However, county officials clarified that the error was limited to two candidates and did not affect any other areas or races. Voting machines also broke down in several polling stations in the Houston area, causing long lines for some voters. Despite viral online rumors, there was no indication that these issues impacted the outcome of any races on Tuesday. Additionally, the subject of potentially credible allegations of vote tampering arose in a Connecticut election when a judge voided the results of the mayoral primary. Videos emerged showing individuals inserting numerous ballots into a drop box, which violated state law. While the incumbent mayor appeared to be winning the general election, it may have to be re-run depending on the court's final ruling. Both candidates have denied any wrongdoing.
