Ncuti Gatwa, the new Doctor on Doctor Who's Christmas special, joked that he won't be the biggest star of the episode. He playfully expressed anger about TV presenter Davina McCall stealing the show with her cameo appearance. Gatwa praised the setting of the episode in Wales, describing it as "mythical" and "ridiculously beautiful." He thanked the country for consistently employing him and appreciated the stunning landscapes that provided the perfect backdrop for Doctor Who. In the upcoming 14th series set to air in 2024, various Welsh locations will be featured, including Southerndown Beach, Cardiff Bay, Caerphilly Castle, and Margam Country Park. Gatwa also mentioned that Russell T Davies, the show's writer, has whipped up an exciting and fresh world for the series. He believes that Doctor Who's longevity is due to its ability to reflect society and continue to be a mirror for humanity. Gatwa personally feels a deep connection to the show and describes the Doctor as a beloved member of the family. He recounted how he watched his first appearance as the Time Lord alone, feeling a mix of nerves, anticipation, sickness, and excitement. The Doctor Who Christmas Special will be available on BBC One Wales and iPlayer on Christmas Day at 17:55 GMT.
