Dense fog has caused major disruptions in travel in India's capital city of Delhi. Flights and trains have been affected, with 50 flights and around two dozen trains being delayed. According to the flight tracking app flightradar24, departing flights were delayed by an average of 25 minutes and flight arrivals were delayed by eight minutes. Passengers have expressed frustration at being stranded at the airport for hours. Airport authorities had issued an advisory asking passengers to contact their airlines for updated flight information. The advisory also mentioned that flights not compliant with CAT III runways may be affected. In December and January, fog and poor visibility had resulted in multiple flight delays and cancellations. On Wednesday morning, several areas in Delhi and its suburbs were covered in dense fog, with zero visibility reported in some localities. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light rains, thundershowers, and moderate fog for the next few days. This season, Delhi has experienced its coldest January in 13 years, with record-breaking low temperatures.
