Daniel Khalife, a former soldier, has denied escaping from Wandsworth prison in London. He is accused of breaking out on 6 September and being on the run for four days. Khalife appeared in court via video link from HMP Belmarsh wearing a brightly colored sweatshirt. It is alleged that he escaped by attaching himself underneath a food delivery vehicle using bed sheets. Police apprehended him while he was riding a bike along a canal towpath in Northolt, west London, on the morning of 9 September. Khalife appeared in the Old Bailey and pleaded not guilty to escaping from HMP Wandsworth. This is a developing story; more details will be published soon.
