Arun Hariyani, a passionate cricket enthusiast, has been painting himself in the colors of India's flag to gain attention and hopefully secure a ticket to the much-anticipated cricket match between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad. Hariyani and his friend, Jagdish Balrampur Swami, use vibrant acrylic paints to decorate themselves in the respective national colors before taking pictures in different poses. If they are unable to secure tickets, they plan to stand outside the stadium and spread the message of cricket. Although they support India, they have no favorite Pakistani cricketer. Hariyani shows his patriotism by having "INDIA" tattooed on his forehead and adorning his body with tattoos of fighter jets, military helicopters, warships, and brave soldiers. In the past, he has painted himself in the colors of the Indian flag and hoisted it in Srinagar, Indian-administered Kashmir. However, he considers the India-Pakistan cricket match to be the fiercest contest in the world. This match holds significance not only in the world of cricket but also in politics. India aims to use it as an economic driver, a grand spectacle, and a celebration of national character. The cricket stadium in Ahmedabad is the world's largest, with a seating capacity of 132,000, and is named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The World Cup matches held in Ahmedabad, including the opening game, the India-Pakistan face-off, and the final, are considered part of an extended election campaign for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The match between India and Pakistan takes place against the backdrop of strained relations between the two countries. The media and social media platforms have amplified the rivalry, comparing it to a war without shooting. Ahmedabad has a history of religious tensions, and security measures are being taken to avoid any communal disturbances during the match. Despite the upcoming high-stakes match, Ahmedabad currently shows little public enthusiasm. Only a few banners featuring Indian cricketers can be seen around the stadium, and merchandise vendors have reported low sales. Some young men have been arrested for selling counterfeit tickets, and there are reports of fans pretending to have medical conditions to secure hospital rooms after failing to find accommodation. While Ahmedabad may not have a rich history of India-Pakistan rivalry in cricket, the match is still expected to draw passionate fans from both sides. The World Cup has faced challenges in terms of scheduling delays, ticket sales, and visa issues for Pakistani journalists and fans. However, the infrequent clashes between India and Pakistan have intensified the rivalry, making each match more significant and memorable. Fans on both sides of the border have matured over the years, resulting in a less hostile atmosphere during matches. The availability of live cricket broadcasts has allowed fans to appreciate the game played by both teams, leading to less animosity. With several teams having an equal chance of reaching the finals, it is difficult to predict the outcome of this World Cup. However, an India-Pakistan final in Ahmedabad would be a promoter's dream and potentially a security official's nightmare.
