Is it too soon to start decorating Christmas trees?

When it comes to decorating for Christmas, opinions on the timing vary. Some people start trimming their trees as early as November, while others wait until December. Traditionally, decorations are put up on the first day of Advent, which falls on December 3rd this year. Mike Beatson-Smith, a creative director from Ilkley, West Yorkshire, is one early decorator who has already had his tree up for several weeks. He even hosted a Christmas dinner on Bonfire Night. Beatson-Smith's love for Christmas stems from childhood memories of driving through Hull with his parents and admiring the festive lights. Siobhan Murphy, an interior designer and influencer from Castleford, Leeds, also starts decorating early. As an influencer, she often prepares for Christmas advertising campaigns in September, and once the decorations are up, she likes to keep them up for as long as possible. For Saskia and her siblings in Hull, decorating their house on November 1st is a sentimental tradition they do in memory of their late mother. On the other end of the spectrum, Marianna Easter, who grew up in Norway but now lives in West Yorkshire, follows the Scandinavian tradition of celebrating Christmas on December 24th. She prepares for Christmas on Little Christmas Eve, the day before Christmas Eve, and has her main celebration and opens presents on Christmas Eve. She also incorporates Norwegian traditions by leaving porridge for the Nisse, the Norwegian version of Santa Claus. Overall, the timing of Christmas decorations varies greatly among different individuals and cultures.
