James Cleverly has become the third home secretary to visit Rwanda to discuss the UK's plan to send migrants to the country as a way to tackle illegal immigration. Priti Patel and Suella Braverman had previously visited Rwanda to promote the idea. Although the policy has been in the works since April of last year, it has yet to be implemented. The government is now attempting to formalize the arrangement through a treaty between the two countries. However, the effectiveness of the plan and its ability to act as a deterrent to illegal immigration remains uncertain. The Labour Party is skeptical of the idea, pointing out the significant number of migrants who have crossed the English Channel in small boats despite the proposed policy. With the possibility of a change in government, Labour may have to deal with this issue in the future. James Cleverly is expected to provide more details on the treaty in the House of Commons on Wednesday. The main questions surrounding the plan are whether it can work, will it work, and when will it be implemented.
