A police officer is facing charges for the murder of Chris Kaba, who was killed in a shooting incident in south London last year. The incident occurred during a police operation in Streatham Hill on September 5, 2022. The Metropolitan Police officer, whose identity cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, will be charged and will appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday. The decision to press charges was communicated to both the officer and Mr. Kaba's family by the police watchdog on Wednesday morning. Mr. Kaba, who was 24 years old, tragically died when a single gunshot struck the vehicle he was driving. Met Deputy Assistant Commissioner Helen Millichap referred to the charging decision as a "significant and serious development" in the case. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has held the evidence file since March after receiving it from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
