Yan Chenglong, the winner of a Xiangqi tournament, has had his title taken away and has been banned from playing for a year following allegations of inappropriate behavior. It has also been claimed that he cheated by using a communication device similar to anal beads. The Chinese Xiangqi Association (CXA), however, has stated that it is impossible to prove these accusations of cheating. Xiangqi has been a widely popular game in Asia for centuries. After winning the title of "Xiangqi King" at a national tournament on Hainan Island, Mr. Yan reportedly started drinking with friends in his hotel room. The CXA has stated that he then caused damage to hotel property and violated public order by defecating in the bathtub. The association was forced to address rumors on social media that Mr. Yan had cheated using anal beads with wireless transmitters, but they stated that there is no evidence to support these claims. As a consequence of his misconduct, Mr. Yan has lost his title and is prohibited from playing for a year. The CXA did not disclose the exact amount of prize money Mr. Yan was forfeiting, but Xiangqi tournaments often award winners significant sums of money.
