California takes legal action against anti-abortion organizations for making false claims about the reversibility of pregnancy-ending pills

The state of California is taking legal action against two anti-abortion organizations, Heartbeat International (HBI) and RealOptions Obria, for misleading patients by claiming that a high dose of progesterone can reverse the effects of the abortion pill. The only clinical trial conducted on this method was halted due to reports of severe bleeding. California's Attorney General, Rob Bonta, has accused these organizations of violating laws against fraudulent business practices, stating that those seeking abortion should receive accurate information and support, not misinformation. The lawsuit seeks a court order to prevent these organizations from promoting abortion pill reversal. While the unproven treatment has been banned in Colorado, several other states require abortion providers to inform patients about reversal treatments. A law in Kansas, however, is facing opposition from Planned Parenthood. In Texas, a federal approval for the abortion pill has been suspended in response to a lawsuit filed by anti-abortion activists.
