British Airways has halted flights to Israel after diverting one of its planes back to Heathrow due to security concerns. The decision was made after flight BA165, which was close to landing in Tel Aviv, was instructed to turn around by the captain. The reason for this was the presence of rockets in the vicinity of Tel Aviv, causing air raid sirens to sound. While the rockets did not pose an immediate threat to the flight, British Airways prioritizes passenger safety. As a result, the airline has suspended all flights to and from Tel Aviv and is offering affected customers the option of a full refund or rescheduling with an alternative airline or at a later date with British Airways. Several other airlines, including EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates, and Virgin Atlantic, have also suspended their flights to and from Tel Aviv amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Virgin Atlantic is currently reviewing its Tel Aviv service. British Airways and other airlines will continue to closely monitor the situation in the region.
