Firefighters have been called to a fire at Blackpool Tower, a popular landmark in the UK. The incident occurred at around 2:15 PM GMT when flames were spotted coming from a metal section near the top of the tower. The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) has dispatched six fire engines and a rope rescue team, with Lancashire Police also present at the scene. Staff members have been evacuated, and LFRS has advised the public to avoid the area due to potential disruption caused by the incident. The tower, which stands at 158m (519ft) and is a Grade I listed building, was built between 1891 and 1894. It was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris and was the brainchild of former Blackpool mayor Sir John Bickerstaffe. More details on the fire will be provided soon, and updates can be found on BBC North West's Facebook, X, and Instagram pages.
