Commander, the Biden family's dog, has been relocated from the White House due to a series of biting incidents. First Lady Jill Biden's spokesperson stated that they are still deciding on the dog's future. Last week, Commander bit a Secret Service agent, marking the 11th biting incident involving guards at the White House or the family's Delaware home. The spokesperson emphasized that President Biden and the First Lady prioritize the safety of those working and protecting them at the White House. Commander is currently not on the White House premises while they assess the next steps. The spokesperson did not disclose where the dog is currently living or if it will eventually return to the White House. CNN recently reported that Commander had been involved in more biting incidents than the 11 officially acknowledged by the Secret Service. Additional incidents included one necessitating hospital treatment and others requiring medical attention from on-site staff. In July, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attributed the attacks to the stress of living at the residence, highlighting the unique and stressful nature of the White House complex for both humans and pets. New training techniques were being implemented for Commander following the biting incidents. Records obtained by a conservative group through a Freedom of Information Act request revealed details about some of the biting incidents involving Commander. In one incident, Commander charged at an agent when First Lady Jill Biden couldn't control the dog. Another officer reported being bitten twice, and a witness had to use a steel cart as protection against the dog. Major, the Biden family's other German Shepherd and the first rescue dog to live at the White House, was also involved in several biting incidents with Secret Service agents. In 2021, Major received additional training and was sent to live with Biden family friends away from the White House.
