During a conversation at the London Film Festival, Greta Gerwig, the director of the highly successful movie Barbie, expressed her delight at the film's achievements. Gerwig described the film's success as "so moving" and stated that it has been the most thrilling thing for her to see it being enjoyed by a wide audience. Barbie follows the adventures of the popular doll and her companion Ken as they venture from Barbieland into the real world. With box office earnings of $1.44 billion, making Gerwig the most successful solo female director ever, it's evident that the film has received immense commercial success. Gerwig shared that working on Barbie was a joyful experience. She expressed her hope that the movie would be as half as entertaining to watch as it was to create. Filming took place in the UK at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, and the movie was released in July. Gerwig even mentioned how she personally visited cinemas during the film's opening weekend in New York City to gauge the audience's reactions and ensure the best viewing experience. The director also spoke about her love for watching films in movie theaters, stating that she wanted to recreate the feeling of gathering in a dark room with a group of people. She expressed gratitude to the BBC for allowing her to incorporate a short extract from its 1995 TV adaptation of Pride & Prejudice in the film and thanked the actors Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth for their contribution. Although she didn't reveal specifics, Gerwig briefly mentioned her next project and the challenges she is facing during the writing process. She conveyed that she is currently working on a new film and that it has been a demanding and somewhat nightmarish experience.
